This blog is simply about answering one question: Adjusting!

Are all patients adjusted the same way?

The short answer is YES, The long answer is NO!

As a chiropractor I am asked all the time about the adjustment. All the time. I love talking about this amazing thing that I employ with my patients. The simple fact is that each and every patient gets a completely different adjustment at our office. This has to do with a lot of factors. For example, sometimes I will have an 80 year old osteoporotic women come in the door. The next patient I have come in is an infant. And the very next patient is a 30 year old mechanic.

Would you expect me to treat all three patients the same way?

The fact of the matter is that all three are getting an adjustment, but the spinal manipulation that is employed on each is vastly different. Let's look back at those three patients that walked into my clinic. The 80 year old osteoporotic women needs a gentle touch, mostly employing soft tissue, and focusing on exercises that allow her to stay mobil at home, without fear of falls. The next patient, an infant needs an adjustment that focuses on relieving birth trauma, also very light, with checks on reflexes while at the office. The next patient, the 30 year old mechanic gets what we would call a more focused adjustment with more force in certain areas.

All three patients are different yes. However they are still getting a great deal of attention. This includes spinal manipulation which activates parts of the nervous system that can help us rehab our way into good health. This also allows us to increase our mobility, and also our range of motion. If you have any additional questions about your adjustments you can ask our clinic.
